Much like Elias Ricks, LSU grabbed another stunning athlete last December when 6'2 Dwight McGlothern signed, telling the world he was headed to Baton Rouge in resounding, nationally televised style.

As NBC cameras rolled, McGlothern grabbed two picks in the All-American game before making the announcement of his signature live following the game.

On a massive stage, McGlothern displayed the serious abilities of a top notch INT collector at DBU, returning one of his 2 INTs for a touchdown during the All-American game and snagging 15 across his high school career, no less than 3 INTs in a season.

McGlothern, much like Stingley Jr. also terrorized defenses as an offensive Death Star, catching 34 touchdowns and almost 2,500+ receiving yards, proving to be a ludicrous match-up for any DB out wide.

Dwight's lanky height and spiritual understanding on both sides of the ball provide Nudie McGlothern with an unsurpassed advantage in one on one situations....and he may just be the answer to the Stingley question:

In 2021, if we feel the need to move a corner over to offense, Dwight is the man, freeing up Stingley to play his best role. Derek chops an entire half of the field away, as well as shackling any offense's #1 or #2 targets, confusing quarterbacks into a delirium trigger-finger, pumping bastardized passes towards the other quadrants of the LSU secondary fearlessly, only to find one great player after another among Corey Raymond and Bill Busch's depth chart.

Meanwhile, an LSU offense losing Ja'Marr Chase and Terrace Marshall's expert aerial abilities and yards after catch exhibition, will be in search for any play-making, heat-seeking subterfuge, and within Nudie's 22 yards per catch, clearly illustrating his mountainous strength or momentous breakaway speed, his exquisite knack for separation in between the lines, over the middle and near the sideline, Wide Receivers Coach Mickey Joseph must have one eye trained on Nudie's future as much as DBU Miyagi Corey Raymond.

If there's any big, impossible to answer question about Dwight, it isn't whether the young man could be a shutdown corner at DBU, he definitely can....the question is whether he'd also be a dynamic wide out among Mickey Joseph's outrageous slew of phenoms.

With so many adept pass-catchers, from Marshall, Chase, McMath, Boutte, Palmer, Gilbert, Kirklin, Adams, Koy Moore, even TE's Kole Taylor or Pettigrew, 2020 is stacked beyond belief, and neither Stingley or McGlothern are needed on offense this year.

As for the future, I would love to see McGlothern's boisterous big play ability (22 yards per catch at Klein High) out wide during his sophomore campaign, especially if Ricks beats Dwight out for the #2 corner spot opposite Stingley. By 2021, LSU will be in need of receivers, given Chase and Marshall's expected NFL Draft declarations, as well as McMath and Kirklin's graduations; accordingly, Mickey Joseph will be hunting for fresh pass-catching talent, and in Dwight McGlothern he has a potential superstar in the making currently wearing purple and gold...the Texas native is just too good for Mickey Joseph to ignore.

This potential scenario would see McGlothern and Ricks pair up alongside each other (in their NFL-ready prime) as our two starting cornerbacks during the 2022 season...a tantalizing bonus after losing a transcendental talent such as Derek Stingley...

 PROJECTIONS:

One of the more impossible players to predict of all for 2020.

He could geaux to stealing the starting CB spot out from under Flott, Ricks, Ward, Cole or Jones, but he could also be relegated to vagabond duties in all three phases as coaches try to determine his best role.

His desired role at CB is up for debate because of Dwight's lack of impetus in the tackle (frequently going for the strip over taking the player to the ground, only 1 forced fumble during high school) and the intense personnel battle unfolding for the spot from upperclassmen Champions like Jay Ward, Raydarious Jones, Lloyd Cole or one of my personal favorites, Mr. Cordale Flott, may prove too big of a task for Dwight (or Eli for that matter) to steal the spot this season.

I will project this: he will score a TD, I don't know how, but he will...whether picking off a pass and taking it to the house, scooping and scoring, as a punt returner or straight up catching a touchdown pass, however the hell he does it, this freshman phenom will make a statement...he's so hard to predict.

A soon-to-be festival of brilliance....as unpredictable as he can be for quarterbacks to throw at or DBs to cover, McGlothern is a 100% Grade DBU mastermind.
