LSUODYSSEY.COM's #1 athletic department source has confirmed to us:
Oklahoma Sooners' Head Coach Lincoln Riley is not only a prime target and candidate for the LSU job, he should be "viewed as a frontrunner".
Pretty strong words, saying while "locals, recruits & coaches" want Billy Napier, Scott Woodward's broad vision "requires a high profile hand"; combined with Riley's high octane system, ability to develop QBs, his relentless recruiting style, history of strong culture, alongside his CFP pedigree / burning hunger for his first championship, Lincoln makes sense and ticks just about every box for LSU's athletic department.
I was also told the 4 name pool from which Woodward has cast his line:
The names are of course Lincoln Riley & Billy Napier, joined by Michigan St's Mel Tucker & the least likeliest candidate on the list, Ole Miss Head Coach Lane Kiffin.
Nothing has been signed, but Riley is being pursued relentlessly behind the scenes by Woodward's Head Coaching search team, which includes GM Austin Thomas, Stephanie Rempe, among others.
