HEAD COACHING UPDATE #6: DAY OF RECKONING

Following a slight lull in the LSU head coaching search, suddenly bits of madness are flashing in from all sides:

-Mike Scarborough claims boosters have told him Woodward has "his guy" already and that "they should be excited".

-Jordy Culotta claims Lincoln Riley refused the LSU job over the weekend and is out of the running, with the radio host favoring Dave Aranda or Billy Napier.

-After Jimbo Fisher's public denial yesterday, an extreme statement that puts his candidacy in the extremely unlikely pile, OU Head Coach Lincoln Riley was forced to answer about the LSU job. Here's what he had to say:

“I coach at the University of Oklahoma. You know how I feel about this place and this program. We’ve all been down this road many times before. You guys know where I stand and that hasn’t changed."

That doesn't sound anywhere near as firm as Jimbo's statement, and in fact, when you watch or listen to Riley give the statement, you feel like this guy is about to be LSU's head coach.

My sources are cold right now, there's severe penalties and other considerations I have to take into account when I ask these people for info.....they won't give me much at the moment, but what more do they have to say?

On 10/28-29, I was made aware of Riley's firm candidacy from a few people inside LSU's athletic department, news we broke and shared....now, our original story has blown up into a national blockbuster.

-the advocate writer Scott Rabalais tells everyone Jimbo, Mel or Napier have a greater chance to get the job over Riley.

-many names are going to be thrown around, especially by fools who are flailing around trying to break this story. But right now, there's only three guys who can become the next LSU head man.

LINCOLN RILEY

MEL TUCKER

BILLY NAPIER

Even at this point, I'm getting intense reports from a random source of mine that Riley's agent was seen in Baton Rouge, a report which has been spun around by a few unseemly outlets into pure fanciful territory.

-UPDATE: Lincoln Riley is no longer represented by Bob LaMonte.

Our error.

But at this point, l believe no one other than Lincoln Riley or possibly Billy Napier will be LSU's next head coach.

There's a lot going on, our phone has been off the hook....keep it locked on LSUODYSSEY.COM
