As Laura Rigney arrived in Baton Rouge for the fifth LSU visit with her son, #1 ranked offensive lineman Tristan Leigh, he was joined once again by his brother Aidan...yet this time the Leigh family weren't a part of a large group of fellow recruits or commits' families:

This weekend was about family, familiarity and comfort as Tristan's girlfriend and the Leigh boys' sister took in the campus sights.

In part two of our conversation with Laura Rigney, she talks about the weekend, her comfort around the people of Louisiana and her own experiences with prejudice:

LONN: Are you in Baton Rouge yet again, Laura??

LAURA: Yes- we are having a great time

LONN: Who have you all met up with down there this time?? Such a cool thing for his 5th visit now!! We gotta get him the keys to the city!

LAURA: Lol. His girlfriend Maya did an engineering event and we showed the campus to her and my daughter (the boys sister).

LONN: She's an engineer, eh? LSU has a great program! So it's just a solo family adventure?

LAURA: Yes it’s just the five of us. We are having a great time.  The boys are obsessed with Canes so we have to hit that everytime we are in town.

LONN: Yes!! 😂 Have the coaches been aware of his arrival?

LAURA: Yes, they're still not allowed to contact us while we are here but they knew we were coming so they were happy I think.

LONN: 😄 of course they were!

LAURA: We spent the day walking around campus and checking out Baton Rouge. The people here are so nice!

LONN: It's that southern hospitality! Get used to it, Laura!

LAURA: They are just nice people, lol.

LONN: Was there ever a time where you didn't see this happening? Where the adversity was too much? Y'all are inspiring.

LAURA: We never saw this coming. We have definitely had our moments when the kids were younger but we moved to northern Virginia because of their diversity. It never in a million years occurred to me we would ever go on this journey- it is truly a dream come true.

LONN: Did your sons experience some prejudice in southern VA??

LAURA: They didn’t but their dad and I had some times of not being waited on in a restaurant.

LONN: 😞 that makes me sad that happened and I'm glad you shared that with us to raise awareness against all forms of racial prejudice!

Speaking of his father, what does Tristan and Aidan's father think about his sons? He's gotta be proud as a former University of Virginia football star.

LAURA: He is proud. He came last weekend!

LONN: Laura, I'll leave you be! I'm extremely grateful to you! Have a wonderful rest of your stay!

THANK YOU TO LAURA RIGNEY

& HER FAMILY!

Please travel home safe!
