Part one of LSU Odyssey's exclusive interview with Laura Rigney (Leigh), the mother of Tristan and Aidan Leigh, 2021 and 2024 OL prospects from Robinson Secondary out of Fairfax, Virginia.
Wrapping up the Tigers Turnout weekend, Laura was kind enough to divulge a few details of where the Leighs felt the meeting went, why Tristan's coming back again only 6 days later and more:
LONN: So Laura, all things considered, how did it geaux?
LAURA It was great! We had the perfect time!
LONN: Baton Rouge is a chill place.
LAURA: It is, very nice people.
LONN: Louisiana always has a "we can get through whatever obstacles are in our path" type mentality. A land full of survivors. We are truly blessed for you and your sons to have been in the city once again, have you all returned safely??
LAURA: We spent the afternoon in New Orleans then we fly out tomorrow.
LONN: Nice!! What did you think?? I know Tristan has visited the coaches and campus before but how did he feel with these guys? They looked like they were having fun 😂
LAURA: It was great, they all became good friends. We loved the parents too. It was a great mix of guys.
LONN: What will decide Tristan's commitment most? He seems to be very emotionally mature, you've done a great job raising your sons.
LAURA: Thank you! I’m so proud of him. Yes We are definitely a team. He really wants to make sure that Aidan is part of his decision. Aidan and I plan on following him wherever he goes. I want to take some classes wherever he goes to learn more about business and finance. I manage a dialysis center now so I know some but not nearly enough.
LONN: That's incredibly tough work managing a dialysis center! Was Aidan into LSU? It was probably good for him to have Shone Washington there, someone closer to his age as well.
LAURA: Aidan loves LSU. Yes he liked meeting the boys his age. Lol yes I’m in a job that does a lot of financials so I want to make sure that Tristan makes the right decisions In The future- and aidan too :)
LONN: Aidan is an important part of this whole thing because I feel too many aren't considering his talents. Does that ever get to him being just slightly in Tristan's shadow at this time?
LAURA: Aidan likes it because it gives him the bar to beat.
LONN: Aidan is Herculean for his age. Do you think he'll grow bigger than Tristan when all is said and done?
LAURA: He is bigger then Tristan was at his age.
LONN: I bet your family has been subjected to some bizarre encounters due to Tristan's talents, what's the weirdest recruiting story or offer he's received?
LAURA: The weirdest was driving through a campus in the rain and seeing it pop up on Twitter that we were there! And then on the way this weekend someone put on Instagram they were sitting next to Tristan on the plane- we are not used to the attention so it was entertaining that people would care.
LONN: 😄 the Geaux 247 Paparazzi is comin!
It's because everyone knows your sons aren't just great football players, they're young men anyone would love to have on a team, anyone would love dating their daughter or being their friend.
Are your sons die hard fans of any college or NFL team ?
LAURA: They love the cowboys!!!
LONN: Have you realized how popular you've become? Whether people are recruiting your sons or not, they gravitate to you. Do you sense that?
LAURA: No- I can’t imagine anyone would care about me- just my babies (lol)
