-LSU Odyssey sources tell me LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward has had conversations with many top agents, including Jimmy Sexton. Woodward threw out an enticing annual contract offer in excess of $10,000,000.

Many names are being thrown around due to this gargantuan number, agents wanting their clients to be in contention for an annual contract to rival Nick Saban's at Alabama.

The Steelers' Mike Tomlin is one of these names, but he's strategically playing his name into the conversation to buy some respect from the Steelers fan base....."remember what kind of coach they have"....although Tomlin would no doubt be interested in taking over at LSU, would he be down with long hours on the recruiting trail?

Would he have to pull long hours on the recruiting trail?

I think Tomlin would be a fantastic hire, I just don't hear or see anything to back it up just yet. I'll keep you updated about Tomlin.

Then you have Dabo Swinney from Clemson having to denounce his name being in the running for the LSU job, a great public way to strike fear in every critical Clemson fan, losing their minds over their first bad season in over a decade (2010's 6-7 season under Swinney).

Standing now at 4-3, Swinney's name was cast in the mix to create a national frenzy to help. Dabo through a bad transitional season, as well as providing a smokescreen for Woodward's true intentions.

-Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has told his people to tell Scott Woodward "he wants the job".

-The three names I continue to hear as "realistic candidates" for the job:

BILLY NAPIER, MEL TUCKER and LANE KIFFIN.

-Cincinnati's Luke Fickell's large family and roots in Ohio will likely see him rebuff any LSU overtures, although who knows what he'll do for the right dollar amount.

-Apparently Coach Ed Orgeron may become Fox Sports Co-Host Ed Orgeron, as he is reportedly in negotiations with his buddy Bruce Feldman's home company Fox Sports to be a college football commentator for the 2022 season. I'll keep you updated when I can confirm these reports.

-Talking 2022 recruiting, I had extensive discussions with #1 ranked LB Harold Perkins' Uncle Kevin Thomas, and the versatile LB/RB/WR hybrid freak has told his Uncle he's "still undecided" right now....with LSU & Texas A&M battling for Perkins.

The services of Cy Park's freight train LB/RB will be a major storyline, as these two SEC West powers fight for the best athlete of the 2022 class.
