TIGER WHISPERS: DEPARTURES?

- According to Wilson Alexander of the Advocate, Tigers standout DB (and friend of LSU Odyssey) Quinton "Pig" Cage is no longer on LSU's roster and he also missed practice today.

This news comes as a big shock and a quick turn of events, merely only two days after a chance meeting with the young DB. Cage also posted a photo of himself and Tyrann Mathieu, one of his ultimate heroes, posing together inside LSU's facility.

He also posted a cryptic tweet earlier today, "Tired of showing I can get it done, what you gone do for me?"

If Cage is indeed off the squad, his departure will be a big sadness for us, as his story was a powerful testament to never giving in. Regardless, I don't think he'll be giving in after this, either, in fact he may be more fired up than ever before to prove some people wrong.

No doubt the possibly former LSU walk on will land on his feet with a scholarship elsewhere after his stunning 6 tackle, 3 TFL, 1.5 sack performance on national television vs Kansas State.

- Deion Smith's name was absent from LSU's official roster list, as we posted for you all to see last week. I have good Intel that he's merely getting academics in order ahead of his likely move to Ole Miss.

- Right now is a moment it seems some players are finding other offers from schools, chances for higher rep counts than they may receive at LSU, or possibly suspensions or failure to live up to Kelly's standards.

Josh White left for the portal, immediately greeted by an offer from Baylor followed by a slew of others, and some Tigers are seeing this as a possible route for themselves.

An exodus of a few players is on its way ahead of the May 1st deadline, but look for the Tigers to reload through the portal, with potential targets Eric Reed (Auburn, DB) and Tyler Steen (Vanderbilt, OL) among other names I'm starting to vet.

- Keep an eye on Armoni Goodwin, Jacobian Guillory, Zavier Carter, Jordan Toles, Garrett Nussmeier...
