Our Top 5 out of the state of Louisiana's deep class of 2024 proved to be hard pickings....but we managed to separate this multidimensionally talented crop of prospects....not by stats or stars....we did it using film, promise and pedigree as the primary judge, jury and executioner.

Our Full Top 25 coming soon after the NSD "dust" settles!

1. Ju'juan Johnson CB/QB (LCA)

I don't know how you can't rank him #1 at the top of any 2024 list concerning the state of Louisiana.

A dynamic defensive back prospect leading Lafayette Christian Academy to annual title game trips as a quarterback, Ju'juan Johnson will likely end his LCA career as a five star and among the most pursued high school players in America.

Though he will make his commitment known between Deion Sanders' Colorado, Robert Steeples' LSU and Corey Raymond's Florida, placing a premium on NFL defensive back development, the young man can't really go wrong with any route he decides.

It'll be a shame if he doesn't stay home as a Tiger, but it'll also be a disappointment to never see him play quarterback again, either (specifically referencing his outrageous 2022 title game performance).

Johnson is definitely a top round, high ceiling prodigy as a corner, taking to the position with remarkable ease and incredible skill; there is a reason the top defensive backs coaches in America have all pursued him endlessly from the second he tried the position at a camp, as he detailed to LSU Odyssey in one of our 4 exclusive chats.

While we feel Colorado could be in pole position for Johnson, don't sleep on any of these 3 schools in the last few days before he announces.

2. Trey'Dez Green TE (East Feliciana)

No doubt one to watch for a powerhouse senior year, Trey'Dez Green has it all for the future of the tight end position:

Towering just under 6 feet 8 inches, containing a steely torso around 250, ridiculous wingspan, dangerous speed for a young man of his measurables, and of course...he's a divine mismatch.

Yes, LSU have a loaded tight end room for the next few seasons, with Mason Taylor, Mac Markway, Ka'Morreun Pimpton, Jackson McGohan, and fellow 2024 classmate & current Tiger commit Tayvion Galloway.....however, Green is expected to sign with the Tigers as his recruitment develops and more roster spots potentially / inevitably open up.

Scoring 4 touchdowns in his first game of 2022, it's no stretch to call Green one of the best ever tight end prospects to come out of the State of Football.

It would be an unexpected mishap for Brian Kelly's TEU to lose out on such a promising athlete in their own backyard.

3. Wardell Mack CB (John Ehret)

One of the classiest and most elite corners of the entire 2024 class, Wardell Mack is also our #2 ranked CB in the state, striking fear in the hearts of every quarterback he's faced.

Just like Ju'juan Johnson, he also plays quarterback, showcasing his special athletic promise for the next level.

Holding the distinction of allowing zero catches throughout an electric sophomore year which saw his star rise, Mack continued his progress as a rampaging junior, producing as a corner and a special teams game changer.

Things are looking good for LSU's pursuit of Mack, as Robert Steeples closes in on another strong recruiting class following 2023's vastly improved cornerback haul, in comparison to 2022 and 2021.

As a top 100 nationally rated overall talent, Mack is also being recruited heavily by Colorado's Coach Prime, trying to drag the best Louisiana talents out of the Boot.

LSU will have to weather a storm or two during the next year in order to seal his signature, but all signs currently point to Mack signing on with LSU.

4. Tylen Singleton LB/S (Many)

Though his name was overshadowed by 2023 teammate Tackett Curtis, Tylen Singleton provided much of the bluster and chaos which set Many's defensive onslaught in motion and provided plenty of game turning plays during Many High's 2022 title quest.

Being a key part of Many's three consecutive state title game appearances and two victories, Singleton has always been on Tiger defensive coordinator Matt House's radar, with the former Super Bowl winner recently visiting Many High to check up on the hybrid defensive playmaker.

Tylen's signature is looking less like a toss up, now that LSU are gaining serious momentum going into summer....and getting Singleton on campus is what it's all about, with a visit scheduled for late July, the final visit on the list following A&M, TCU, Arkansas and Tennessee.

5. Wallace Foster CB (Warren Easton)

Committing as a Tiger last November, Wallace Foster is high on our list for a simple reason:

He's a supremely gifted athletic freak of nature....surely to draw even more attention down the stretch for his dual prowess at both quarterback and corner, tossing 24 touchdowns on offense last fall as he develops his coverage reading abilities.
