One of the most complete defenders of 2023, Many High's do-it-all LB Tackett Curtis, was once thought to be an impossible recruit, a mission of mishap for LSU with dropped calls, pushed back visits, vague interest from the Orgeron regime, and a feeling of anonymous activity from LSU's current staff tearing apart the recruitment charge at the seams.....

That was before Matt House and Brian Kelly took the time to back up Brian Polian and Joe Sloan's initial talks with Tackett and set his LSU recruitment ablaze with future possibility.

Could LSU actually keep Tackett home after this long saga?

Well, judging from remarks told to us by an anonymous source within the Curtis family entourage, their views of LSU have changed quickly.

"We really liked (Coach) House. He wants (Tackett) for Mike LB. We liked House a lot. This staff is the real deal
Night and day from other one. House came to spring and we really liked him so we came down to give him a chance "

For LSU fans, this is a big deal.

It is major for Kelly's new staff to gain desperately needed traction concerning Curtis, one of the most highly prized defenders in the South.

Keeping a much beloved native son in-state, a talent most analysts, fans and coaches believed was all but lost, destined for Ryan Day or Lincoln Riley out ot state, would be a major turn of events after the last year and a half on the in-state recruiting trail.

On their meeting with Brian Kelly:

"...loved our meeting with Kelly. He basically talked about how LSU was letting good players leave that wanted to play there. He said they brought a lot of them back through the portal."
