DEION SMITH ENTERS THE TRANSFER PORTAL: WE TELL YOU WHERE HE'S HEADED

From an LSUODYSSEY.COM source very close to LSU freshman WR Deion Smith, we have learned that the Tiger debutant won't be following Mickey Joseph to Nebraska, but he will be entering his name into the transfer portal, and I'm hearing, from this same source, the location of his next destination.

I'm told Deion is leaving LSU for Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss, hoping to stay home in the state where he was once the #1 overall player.

Injuries cut short a promising start to his debut season in Baton Rouge, but the Mississippi-native showcased a wide range of raw, yet elite receiving talents throughout his 5 appearances at LSU.

After being disciplined for Week 1 vs UCLA, Deion Smith exploded against Central Michigan with 5 catches, 135 yards and 2 TDs, most of that incredible haul coming in just one quarter vs the Chippewas.

Following that career performance, Deion's output was scattershot as he sustained a lengthy injury to his hamstring, knocking him out for the final month & a half of the campaign. In his other 4 appearances, Deion had between 9-19 yards and just 1 or 2 receptions during each game.

Nationally ranked within the Top 10 wide receivers of 2021's freshman class, Smith is a legitimate elite talent, and his departure will be a big miss for LSU, especially if he does leave for Kiffin's Ole Miss...the SEC West's 2nd place team, coming off the program's first ever 10 win regular season & a New Year's Six bowl shoe-in.

It's tough to see such a premier talent enter his name into the portal, following on the heels of Eli Ricks' decision to transfer a few weeks ago.

We will supply you with everything else as it develops, keep looking back at this page.
