As Spring Practices resume after the break, we present our thoughts on LSU's three main quarterbacks, veteran dual threat starter Jayden Daniels in his second season, red shirt sophomore Garrett Nussmeier entering his third without significant playing time, and exciting true freshman / local Louisiana slinger Rickie Collins Jr.

Stemming from a plentiful amount of practice film, we've been able to gleam a few intriguing insights into LSU's 2023 quarterback situation right now:

GARRETT NUSSMEIER

For now, Nuss is limited after a surgery to clean out his shoulder.

Consequently, Garrett only threw the ball during the media portion of LSU's first practice.

In order to recover properly, Nussmeier will need his reps gradually worked back up...so don't expect #13 to be launching bombs all over the field, right now.

JAYDEN DANIELS

It may be too early to tell how much of his footwork and mechanics are progressing with QBs Coach John Beck (among other QB gurus Daniels has worked with this offseason), but his release is already sharper, quicker and you have to believe Denbrock, Kelly and their quarterback will be ready to unleash the passing game far more this fall.

Daniels threw an interception during a 1 v 1 passing drill.

RICKIE COLLINS JR

Arriving stacked and packed like a modern QB Adonis, Rickie Collins Jr arrived at LSU looking like he is ready for game action now.

Sure, he's probably one, maybe even two years away from starting at LSU, however he's already showcasing a strong presence, delicious passing abilities, underrated athleticism, and elite physical preparation, taking that next step ahead of his collegiate arrival.

Will he play in 2023?

Hopefully not...that would mean LSU either lost both Daniels and Nussmeier to injuries / Nussmeier to the portal.

But if he had to, he'd likely hold his own....though it'd likely hurt his development.

Let's watch him develop here and see where his evolution takes us.

His passing continues to look smooth as ever, his footwork is solid but a little nervous, while he did throw 2 interceptions during 1 v 1 drills.
