LEADERSHIP COUNCIL INFO

Last night, Coach Ed Orgeron posted a photo on his Twitter account of a Leadership Council at local restaurant Rouj Creole.

A few interesting things:

First off, the lack of newer coaches at the table is interesting to me. Is this due to the systems they must install, Peetz and Mangas with their offense, Jones, Carter or Baker on defense??

Interesting to note, but I don't sense drama, I sense something practical, after all it's the first Leadership Council of many to come this off-season.

It seems Andre Anthony, B.J Ojulari and Ali Gaye are the first three leaders along the defensive line to be named, while veteran double senior Austin Deculus alongside center Liam Shanahan & guard Ed Ingram comprise the offensive line representatives.

At receiver, Coach O has gone with double senior and Tiger loyalist Jontre Kirklin of course, no secret there, yet the inclusion of junior Jaray Jenkins as a participant in the Leadership Council is a major signal of where the team views Jenkins' growth.

I know his breakout performance against Mississippi State caught Coach O's attention, however Jenkins didn't stop there. With limited targets, Jenkins still snagged big catches, none more impressive than his leaping grab vs Miss State or his 1st quarter touchdown against Florida.

It appears the stars are aligning for Jenkins to take the #2 WR spot, at least in the eyes of LSU's coaching staff right now.

Still repping the linebackers is Damone Clark, the #18 enduring a poor 2020 after a strong 2019 campaign. Clark looks slimmer than last year already, more steely, but the big grin on his face makes this Tigers fan very happy.

LSU will have an unstoppable defense with a confident Damone Clark; Blake Baker will need Clark to play up to the standards of the digits on his back...by the looks of it, Clark is focused & in the mood.

People forget, Clark watched Devin White closely to emulate his game off the legendary Tiger. Damone will have watched the Tampa Bay LB hoist a Super Bowl in dominant, playmaking fashion and will look to do the same in 2021.

And then there's Myles Brennan, who, as I reported on my Wednesday appearance on The Mark Rogers Show, looks thickened beyond belief; in fact, Myles looks beefy to the point many online went into overdrive once again over Brennan's weight.

Last year, we heard about how he's too skinny to play quarterback. Now, after the injuries he's survived, LSU fans are wondering if Myles is "too big" based on one photo...

I can tell you this:

I've seen photos of Myles standing from the last few weeks and he's fine. He's bigger than before, he's thicker than you've ever seen him. That may surprise your brain into judging the young man, but don't. He's fine.

This extra strength and muscle is a great sign and a necessity Brennan had to physically achieve this off-season, with injuries in mind.

Since Myles was at the table, this tells us he's the starting quarterback for the 2021 LSU Tigers, at least heading into March 16th's debut Spring practice.

So, these Tigers are the early collection of leaders for Orgeron's team, giving us all a first visual look at the team in public, plotting their 2021 CFP dominion.
