In a historic moment for the game of football itself, former Ole Miss tight end Dae'quan Wright is about to become the first NFL contracted player to head back into the college game:

According to Adam Schefter, Wright has an agreement in place to join LSU, according to his agents Drew Rosenhaus & Kyle Lincoln, that is if he clears waivers after the Browns are waiving him from their roster.

Wright wasn't drafted this past Spring, but did initially sign for the Philadelphia Eagles, before that franchise released him. He then picked things up with the Browns, although never signed an officially binding contract.

He is now free to join LSU after entering the portal Thursday, as LSUOdyssey reported and hinted at last show.

Wright caught 39 passes, for 635 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns last year as Ole Miss made their CFP run to the semifinals, with Wright catching a touchdown in the semifinal itself against Miami.

Wright would be an absolutely key piece to the blocking & running game puzzle up front, specifically due to his knowledge of the Kiffin/Weis offensive setup, combined alongside his success as a pass catcher, too.....you have to feel that LSU aren't just making history with this move, they're bolstering their roster into a championship contending category.
