By LONN PHILLIPS SULLIVAN

The answer everyone has clamored for is now here: Lane Kiffin will leave Ole Miss after 6 seasons and take the reins at Louisiana State University, ringing in a new, exciting era of LSU Football, while AD Verge Ausberry's hard work behind the scenes finally toppled over the biggest domino in college football's wackiest ever coaching search.

The highly in-demand Kiffin joins LSU after leading Ole Miss to their first ever 11-1 regular season record in 2025 (with an outside shot to appear at the SEC Championship Game & a guaranteed CFP Playoff spot). Compiling a 55-19 overall tally over 5 seasons in Oxford, including two New Year's Six bowls (2021 Sugar Bowl & 2023 Peach Bowl), Kiffin drove the Rebels' program to their greatest ever heights.

His assistant resume is also solidified:

Kiffin won 3 National Championships as one of the most highly respected and innovative playcallers in the country, winning a title as a young rock star among Pete Carroll's legendary USC staff (2004), falling just short during one of the greatest games of all time (2006 Rose Bowl championship game), before winning one (2015) and being dismissed before another title game appearance (2016) during his time on Nick Saban's Alabama staff.

He's had head coaching stints at Florida Atlantic, Tennessee, and an apocalyptic Oliver Stone-esque hellride deathbattle with Al Davis' Oakland Raiders, but now is the time for a new opportunity....a new frontier.....a new era.....

The Kiffin Era is here....

Contract details are expected to follow soon, with some massive staff turnover across the next few weeks, even expecting longtime Tigers Corey Raymond, Austin Thomas, and Frank Wilson to be potentially replaced...

We will see how it all shakes out...
