In a lengthy TikTok video posted by a female LSU student, the young woman alleges an LSU football player (she at first didn't name) sexually assaulted her around 4:30am on October 18th, 2025, then "admitted" his crime to LSU police, was subsequently punished by Louisiana State University, and then somehow allowed back on the team after an appeals process...she also provided documents and has now pressed charges against the player (only LSU DE Damien Shanklin is known to have been suspended by Head Coach Lane Kiffin. At one point, Coach Kiffin declined to say why during a press conference, before Shanklin became active again at varying points this offseason, posting a photo of himself working out in the weight room on August 28th. Ultimately, he is yet to appear for LSU this season).
According to the young woman, she was treated at a local hospital, a rape kit was performed, and she reported the alleged crime against her to Baton Rouge police.
Baton Rouge Police Department claimed they "had no jurisdiction" and referred her to LSU's on campus police, and the Title IX offices at LSU, who then investigated the allegations.
In a piece of footage filmed by the young woman during her meeting with LSU's on campus police, two officers (one male and another female) appear to discourage her from pursuing justice, claiming "the case will just be dismissed..."
Before the punishments, the player's mother allegedly called the victim and told her "not to press charges or it would ruin his career". The player then sent the victim an unsolicited $1,000 in "hush money" as she described.
According to university documents, this LSU student-athlete was found to have violated "Power Based Sexual Violence" violations within Title IX and was subsequently suspended from LSU's team....at first until 2027.
If the player in question was in fact Shanklin, then the defensive end played 25 defensive snaps for LSU after the alleged assault & investigation first took place in October 2025.
But after an appeals process this year, the player in question was allowed back on LSU's 2026 roster by the University, with his suspension "modified" to probation and sexual assault classes with "no restrictions".
The young woman has also said she "pressed charges" against the LSU football player very recently, meaning we could see him suspended from LSU's football squad once again, per athletic department policy (student athletes carrying criminal records of this heightened nature are almost always barred from participation in LSU athletics, until the outcome of their case is resolved).
The player in question is still listed on roster as of today, September 23rd (3:10 pm).
LSUOdyssey reached out to the victim, the player accused, the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's office, LSU's Title IX office, and spoke to an official for LSU Football.
LSU Football has "no comment" on the matter.
