JUST LET THAT ONE SIT WITH YA...

Derek Stingley Jr will join the greatest playmakers in Tigers history this upcoming season, not just because he's a two-time All-American pushing for the ultimate junior campaign (hopefully a Heisman nomination at the least, a Thorpe Award lock & another SEC / National Championship), LSU's top cornerback will now switch from his customary #24 to the highly anticipated #7.

Joining a long line of #7 Tigers, Stingley Jr is now the 3rd member of DBU to dawn the storied number in the past 4 seasons, following NFL Draft selections Jacoby Stevens and Grant Delpit.

He's now the 5th DBU member to wear the famed jersey, a tradition started by perennial Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson and Super Bowl champion Tyrann Mathieu.

"It's an honor to be part of the legacy of players that have worn the number 7 jersey," Stingley said to Brandon Berrio of lsusports.net, "I'm looking forward to upholding the tradition and the standard of play that has been set by the group that has come before me."

The illustrious list also includes Super Bowl champion Leonard Fournette, Pro Bowling NFL wideout D.J Chark and #5 overall pick Ja'Marr Chase.

As far as expectations, they were high for Derek already...now? He'll hope to have his greatest campaign yet, however for cynics....the pressure will be ratcheted up.
