Today, Madison Prep's 2022 DE Quency Wiggins posted a tweet saying "5 star"....immediately, hordes of LSU fans took to the comments section to congratulate the mammoth defensive end on finally being given his just dues.
Was it Rivals?
Did Geaux 247 finally come to their senses?
Was it because he just went to Alabama for an official visit?
Actually, the truth is more revealing of how messed up our current rankings system is:
I asked Quency himself, "who gave you your 5th star?"
His answer: "They didn’t give me the star , just felt like posting to let them know I deserved."
If a young man with Quency's talents is pushed to posting tweets to finally get his dues, then we've given Rivals and Geaux 247 far too much power in our current recruiting system.
Impressing Sam Spiegelman or Greg Biggins at Elite 11 camps (rather than actual game performances) will get you your 5th star, and nothing else....
....but I guess blowing the roof off of an LSU camp, where he won reps against the #1 OT in America, Will Campbell, wasn't enough...
Don't worry Quency, LSU Odyssey gave you your 5 star two weeks ago.
