EUGENE "TRE" WILSON III

(WR Florida, Red Shirt Senior)

CAREER #'S

1,043 Receiving Yards

107 Catches

10 Receiving TDs

A 5 star recruit who showcased his intrinsic versatility immediately as a true freshman at Florida, reeling off 538 yards, 61 catches, 6 TD grabs, while carrying the rock 6 times for 55 on the ground, Eugene "Tre" Wilson III is blessed with somewhat the same athletic profile as Gator legend Percy Harvin, but due to numerous injuries (hip and ankle), including a red shirt year 2, as well as the offensive dysfunction in Gainesville, Wilson only mustered 505 combined yards in his following sophomore & junior campaigns, never coming close to sustaining any kind of consistency....
....in fact, it is nearly sacrilege to place his name in the same sentence as Harvin.....if it weren't for the film, only assessing numbers, he wouldn't be....

Luckily, we have the film....and what I see is an absolute offensive machine, a young man who is a supernova in open space....a player with fearless athleticism alongside his searing speed & ruthless alchemy when making defenders miss...

As he appeared in only 8 games this past season, Wilson's production, impact and open field savvy should be called upon heavily during LSU's 2026 season....a jet sweep artist unlike any you could behold, a screen game igniter, a speed poet, a spin merchant, a juke doctor.....an aerial assassin....

Within LSU's 2026 Kiffin offense, we're about to witness a career-launching / defining season for Tre Wilson...

Last year, I had high hopes for Barion Brown, a player with much of the same skill set as Wilson, although Brown is a much more gifted natural returner than Wilson, while the latter is a more polished receiving prospect than Brown.

Also, 2025 LSU was stuck with Joe Sloan and Brian Kelly....
...2026 LSU have Charlie Weis and Lane Kiffin....

Brown never became what was expected: near 1,000 yards, near 10 TDs, a true WR1 showing...none of that happened. All we witnessed? Joe Sloan's horrific misuse of Brown, making him little more than a glorified returner....(and still he led 2025 LSU in receiving).

This time around, as Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr call the shots for Tre Wilson, a weapon holding two years left of eligibility, you have to feel a whole hell of a lot better about Wilson's chances for WRU immortality....playing in an offense tailormade to accentuate his best attributes.

Truly, only injuries can derail Wilson's debut season in purple and gold.
