IT'S TIME TO TESTIFY, PEOPLES...
THIS 2021 DEFENSE IS SO VICIOUS THEY'RE ABOUT TO GO BACK IN TIME & PUT PELINI IN A CHOKEHOLD....
DARONTE JONES' 2021 DEFENSE IS SO VIOLENT THEY COULD EASILY BE MISTAKEN FOR A JOHN MCTIERNAN FILM.
THEY FLY OFF THE SCREEN...
Yes, I will warn you...during the spring game this Saturday, you may want to cover your child's eyes...especially if they're into fencing or alphabetizing the vinyl collection they don't know how to listen to....or, better yet, let them bear witness to how defense is supposed to be played.
Iron does indeed sharpen iron..
When you hear and then watch just why Joseph Evans has been dubbed the "best D-lineman of Spring", it'll dawn on you....
If he's the best supposedly, but Ojuari, Anthony, Gaye, Farrell, Smith, Roy or Guillory aren't, then just wait til you see the dynamic range of talent and skill along Andre Carter and Coach O's defensive front.
Best Defensive Line in America...you have read it here, we've said it repeatedly...
If you thought last year's D Line made plays and were productive, just watch the havoc this 2021 unit wreak each rep.
It's time to TESTIFY....
The linebackers are now attacking the ball with precision and sledge hammer intensity, but we'll see what starting 2/3 Coach Baker deploys.
Expect to see a lot of 2 man LB crews with 3 Safety looks or nickel help depending always on matchups.
In the final scrimmage of Spring, Jones experimented a ton, using a wide range of personnel and formations as he searched for players who'd rise to the challenge.
From my viewing, I have to say LB Josh White did himself a ton of favors, but so did fellow LB Jared Small, a longtime Tiger out of Baton Rouge's Catholic High. #58 was making some solid gang tackles and looked to take advantage of the chance Baker was throwing his way.
On offense, the QBs were sloppy and threw multiple interceptions, except Myles Brennan who looked clean and sharp, being the only Tiger who didn't throw a pick (the first scrimmage this spring he didn't turn it over).
EVERYONE RELAX:
While Peetz was frustrated with the picks, he has told his QBs to gamble and try throws they normally wouldn't.
MEET LSU's STARTING RUNNING BACK:
MR. "TOUCHDOWN DAVIS-PRICE"
Ty Davis-Price is that man as we've said all along. Just watch his disgusting agility when he makes that first move. After contact, he is a heathen dreamer, burying opponents into the trappings of their own feral misery.
WR/TE Devonta Lee has made eye catching grabs we were told about by Derek Stingley Sr on Off The Bench, however seeing these receptions is another deal.
The first thought which entered my head: Will LSU continue their push for Arik Gilbert at all costs?
Lee is unreal. The kid has waited 2 years and bounced back from WR to LB to WR to LB and most recently, back to WR/TE....
Now is his time.
It's only Spring.
So much will change from now til September at the Rose Bowl...and even then, by mid-season, other Tigers tend to rise up.
Keep your eyes open to everything.
Don't sleep on anyone.
The best part?
This squad ONLY GETS BETTER through summer when Saivion Jones, Matthew Langlois, Sage Ryan, Jack Bech, Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas, Jalen Shead, Bryce Langston and Chris Hilton arrive on campus (who am I leaving out? What a star studded group!!!) while both Deion Smith & Landon Jackson get back to 100%.
Just think of the possibilities....
