LSU's Defensive line future looks bright after the Tigers gained commitments from 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐-rated defensive linemen in 3 days, including some huge, shockwave verbals from Jaxon Howard and Darron Reed, two of 2023's most highly coveted pass rushers.
This high octane July 4th weekend haul arrived on the back of criticism towards Kelly's staff concerning "in-state recruiting" after Derek Williams & Arch Manning picked Texas...questions were asked from the radio stations & podcasts whether they could recruit at a high level in-state, as well as nationally.
With LSU losing major talents at WR, DB and DL via the 2023 NFL Draft, the Tigers had work to do:
Would LSU's national brand be enough to grab the elite, nationally-located 2023 D-Linemen this roster needed?
The answer was a resounding affirmation of something I've been forecasting for some time: Jamar Cain is a recruiting force of nature.
While I understood Cain's prowess on the trail, pedigree as a DL Coach, and his ability to relate to almost anyone, even I was amazed by LSU's remarkable weekend spree, loading up with Minnesota's Jaxon Howard on the 1st, Indiana's Joshua Mickens on July 3rd, followed by Baltimore's De'Shawn Womack and Georgia-born Darron Reed on the 4th.
Cain's reach is proven.....LSU's D-Line Coach has connections with nearly every state in the country, forged over a strong career.
Now, recruiting with a defensive tradition which "sells itself" according to Cain during an interview on The Jordy Culotta Show, Coach Cain instead "sells the city....Baton Rouge is a thriving city. It's diverse, it's vibrant, you're going to get culture....that's what I'm selling."
He's about human relationships first, no strategies....no angles....just reality.
No question about it, Jamar Cain's tenacity is there to be seen by all, however plaudits also must be given to Sherman Wilson, Corey Phillips, Pat Hill and Brian Polian for executing the last commitments.
LSU's Recruiting staff may have taken a few punches, yet they're responding with a championship model of elite recruiting success, which has already attracted every top player in America....watching to see who LSU may land next.
