In fantastic news for LSU Athletics and all things just, a Baton Rouge jury have dismissed Sharon Lewis' $50,000,000 lawsuit, throwing out her case for now the third time in a courtroom....and this time, all the advantages seemed to be on Lewis and her attorneys' side.
Instead, the evidence and facts stuck to LSU's side of the story, freeing Athletic Director Scott Woodward from a potentially nasty case, another public relations quagmire akin to the final days of the Orgeron era, and of course, spotting Lewis an unheard of and hefty payout sum.
LSU officially released a statement following their victory in court today:
"We are pleased that after a full review of the evidence, the jury ruled in our favor. The simple truth is that Ms. Lewis was never retaliated or discriminated against. She was let go along with 41 other football staff members and coaches after a new head coach was hired.
As an institution, over the past three years we have built a robust and nationally recognized Title IX office with more than 12 experts who are committed to educating and protecting our entire LSU community while moving swiftly and holding any offenders fully accountable. This will continue to be a priority for us."
"Relief" and "justice" are the words right now....
