Yes, Sam Leavitt was shown throwing a pretty bad interception to DJ Pickett on Day 1, while his mechanics, footwork and arm looked simultaneously sharp and rusty....wavering with more time out in the electric Baton Rouge heat.

But on Saturday, Leavitt was cooking, tossing for 29 completions from 32 total attempts.......29/32.....although against no defenders.

Sam executed some blistering throws downfield and over the middle....showcasing a far more polished and decisive arm than many media members expected.....

Great news, however, once again, we just haven't seen (and until Week 1 probably won't get to see) Leavitt run the offense vs any real defensive threat, while behind his newer O-line.

Right now, we see a lot of Leavitt working the ball to Trey’Dez, Jackson Harris, Malik Elzy, and Watkins the most, working slants, dig routes, and overall plenty of inside routes that will force defenses to stop YAC situations (a development I'm absolutely loving).

SAFETY ROTATIONS GETTING WHACK??? OR HOW A TEAM SHOULD BE RUN???

Red shirt freshman & backup safety Faheem Delane was now starting next to Ty Benefield with the first team, although only for a few snaps before Jhase Thomas took his place as the continued 1st team free safety through Fall Camp...meanwhile, last season's starter Tamarcus Cooley kept his place as the 2nd team safety...

Now, it appears as if Jake Olsen is solidly confident in what he has in Tamarcus Cooley, and is giving a necessary opportunity to backups in order to:

A. Keep them invested

B. Keep them involved

C. Make sure they're locked in and ready if the time comes later this season.

D. Test everyone and really create competitive fire within that locker room....from top to bottom.

The same thing is going on at defensive tackle, where two true freshmen started Fall Camp at DT for the Tigers, Rich Anderson and Deuce Geralds, while on the edge Jaiden Braker, another red shirt freshman, is taking snaps within the rotation.

BO BORDELON IS NOW AN LSU STARTER

LSUOdyssey was told (by a source we will keep anonymous, but who is close to the staff) that longtime Tiger right guard Bo Bordelon is "thought of as a starter" by teammates, now stationed at left guard.

For the first time in his 4 years at LSU, the Tiger legacy is finally where he worked so hard to be.....and really, it makes me angry he wasn't given a shot by Brad Davis last fall.

While so many other 2025 O-line starters left over the past transfer window, Bordelon stayed in Baton Rouge despite the arrival of Ole Miss' Devin Harper...despite William Satterwhite, he stayed, competed and it's now "Bordelon's gig to lose".

THE TIGHT ENDS WILL PLAY A MASSIVE ROLE

So much of the work and communication between reps was done between Leavitt and his tight ends, utilizing both hybrid superstar Trey'Dez Green and the more traditional Malachi Thomas in dual TE formations, throwing out routes, crossing patterns over the middle, a few 25-30 yard slants and long balls downfield, but what really surprised me???

How many moves both Green and Thomas can pull off in the middle of the field, the kind of separation they can generate while holding such massive bodies.

Making defenders pay with their frightening wingspans, Thomas' elite blocking / all around game, plus Green's mesmerizing talents & aerial unstoppability, it would be hard to see even 1 of these 2 on the sidelines during the season's biggest plays....get used to plenty two tight end sets, Tiger fans.
