Expect LSU to sign a veteran punter out of the portal in the coming days, according to LSUOdyssey sources.
We have a name, however we cannot break the kid's commitment before he will, although if given the green light by the person themselves, then we can share that name.
Either way, LSU will be adding a needed veteran piece to their special teams roster, a player who can either win the job outright, or push under fire 1st string punter Peyton Todd to his ultimate capabilities.
The former #1 overall ranked punter was criticized by Head Coach Brian Kelly following his atrocious punting performance in the Spring Game, this past April.
It's clear LSU are looking to improve the roster, wherever possible, through the portal.
Look out for players with ties to the current Tiger staff.
---------------------------------------
We posted an article on Wednesday about former South Carolina / current Kilgore cornerback Anthony Rose receiving an offer from the Tigers, as he posted on his personal Twitter account last week.
LSUOdyssey have now found out that LSU never issued an offer to Rose, nor do we understand (at least to the point of complete confirmation) why the cornerback would publicly misrepresent an offer from a top SEC school....perhaps a ploy to generate actual top offers.
A very strange situation, one LSU were even confused by.
-----------------------------------
Recent LSU graduate John Emery Jr just returned from a visit to UCLA, one which could make his future even more intriguing....because Emery Jr's time at LSU may not be finished.
According to LSU Odyssey sources, LSU reached out to Emery Jr right after his graduation to see if he was interested in returning to the team....an overture which was undoubtedly forced by the unfortunate news of Trey Holly's trial being delayed.
Will Emery, post ACL tear, carrying one final 6th chance at NFL Draft legitimacy, opt to stay home at LSU....likely in a bit part role behind Josh Williams and Kaleb Jackson?
Or will he head to UCLA, where he has a better shot at a starting role???
If he does head to Los Angeles, Emery Jr will become an immediate opponent of the Tigers in Week 4.
While we were given information that an Emery comeback appeared on the cards, our excitement made us give an on the spot, adrenaline-drugged percentage of the likelihood of his return.
Now that we've received information from more participants in and around this situation, we're being told a few different conflicting things about LSU's desire for his return, as well as Emery's own decision-making process.
We'll keep digging as things get interesting here.
