On Monday, LSU added depth to a position of dire need, signing transfer portal DT Gio Paez from Wisconsin to join Bo Davis' D-Line room.
An interior defensive lineman capable of playing anywhere from a 0 nose to a 5 technique (4-3 DE), Paez was a crucial part of Wisconsin's defensive front:
Over three full seasons (4 academically), Paez appeared in 590 snaps, made 14 pressures, 20 stops (negative plays by tackle), 35 total tackles, 1.5 TFLs and produced 10 of his pressures & played 385 of those snaps across 2023, lining up over the nose or at defensive tackle on every single play at the collegiate level....giving Bo Davis another credible option to work with this fall.
Perhaps just another transfer to bolster depth rather than rock and roll the entire D-line room....still, Paez might just become a desperately needed contributor or key man for Coach Davis throughout a grinding campaign short on D-line depth.
