At last, an exhale of relieved, disgusted, haunted horror....it's over finally...
....was that really 12 games???
Or was this grotesque 12 game nightmarish deluge really what we just experienced???
A collective illusion...from the preseason promise of Nussmeier, Kelly, and expected explosion from LSU's skill position weapons devolving into the firing of Kelly, Sloan, and even Athletic Director Scott Woodward, the benching of Nussmeier amidst injury-plagued horrorshow appearances, and a devastating broken ankle suffered by Whit Weeks, keeping him out for the better part of 5 straight games...disappointing, even anonymous performances from Chris Hilton Jr, Caden Durham, and for most of the year, Harold Perkins...but despite a turbulent season of wild changes, Saturday afternoon @ Oklahoma was one final chance to save some face in the purple and gold....for Coach Frank, all before the dawning of an era full of uncertainties.
While LSU's defense played a spirited game for the most part once again, it was two busted plays that clocked over 100 combined yards & 2 TDs, plus the ball & chain noose that is the Tigers' offense that cost LSU the game today.
LSU's 2025 offense continued their historic free fall, hurtling towards the bottom as they could only muster a single touchdown, with a Damian Ramos field goal on either side, totaling 198 total yards....hell, WR Zavion Thomas threw for 17 passing yards in the 1st half....QB Michael Van Buren could only muster 7 across the first 2 quarters himself.

LSU's offense was horrendous, squandering a chance to score from inside the 3 yard line following Harold Perkins' interception, scoring just 3 points during the 1st half, finishing 2/14 on 3rd down (0/1 on 4th down), 113 passing yards (4.3 yards per pass), 85 rushing yards off 29 carries (2.9 average), led by googly-eyed showings from LSU's offensive line and 2nd string quarterback.
Even though LSU intercepted Oklahoma QB John Mateer 3 times (1 each for Harold Perkins, AJ Haulcy, and DJ Pickett, their respective 3rd interceptions), the Tigers' offense could never make it count, wasting 2 of the 3 drives and losing to Oklahoma thanks in large part to 2 huge Sooner plays: Deion Burks' 44 yard end zone scamper & Isaiah Setagna's 58 yard touchdown catch, two plays that proved to be the ultimate difference.....both arriving late in the game.

Without the combined yardage from either play, Oklahoma just cobble together 291 total yards & score 7 points while possessing the football for exactly 50% of the game.....in fact, LSU actually out-rushed Oklahoma 85-75 yardage-wise.
Frank Wilson's LSU Tigers had prime chances to seize control of this low scoring bloodbath, but like almost every game this season, the Tigers' historically pitiful offense gave the opposition every impetus, opportunity, and advantage...subsequently leading to their defeat.
The standouts for LSU on the night all hail from LSU's defensive side of the ball, AJ Haulcy with 7 tackles and his 3rd INT of the season, Davhon Keys recording a team-leading 8 tackles, 1 TFL and 1 forced fumble (which John Mateer barely recovered), underrated all season due to his low amount of sacks, DE Pat Payton batted his 6th pass of the season (creating an interception) and 1 TFL, while both eldest Weeks Brothers registered 0.5 TFL together.
LSU finish the regular season 7-5 with a low tier bowl game ahead to finish off this treacherous 2025 campaign....all as the Tigers close in on their next Head Coach.
