Shocking the entire college football world, LSU weren't just looking at one or two of the more publicized names they'd been associated with from the newly eligible 2022 class members, i.e Jack Pyburn, the Tigers had their eyes on a big time defensive end addition that seemed to float through the haze of sources, rumors, and a hell of a lot of angry backlash from college football fans: Junior Tuihalamaka.
A former 4 year player at Notre Dame from 2022-2025, reaching 61 total tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 2 PBUs, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception, Tuihalamaka played a key rotational role along Marcus Freeman's defensive front as the Fighting Irish went all the way to a CFP National Championship Game in 2024/25, only to fall to Ohio State due to their offensive output.

Now, Tuihalamaka brings 54 games of experience to LSU's defensive end and edge rushing unit, a group that was high on top tier talent like Princewill Umanmielen, Jordan Ross, or Lamar Brown, but extremely low on depth after the season ending injury to 2025 starter Gabe Reliford & the indefinite suspension of talented second year Tiger Damien Shanklin.
This is a major, powerhouse move to grab a guy this experienced in the portal, at such a late stage, and considering Tuihalamaka never signed an NFL contract, the transition is going to be seamless, smooth, and less controversial than other targets who've already played in NFL Preseason games.
However, could I see LSU still pursue another target or two, even with just 2 weeks until the season kicks off??
Absolutely.
