The more each day goes by, the buzz is growing for a flip from LSU target & current Texas commit Greedy James, a 2027 5th overall safety prospect...

But it's interesting how, for a committed player, James is now about to announce another "final decision" on July 2nd, here's the link for that Live on YouTube announcement from Geaux247.

There's a reason for that...

Despite Greedy James ending his official visiting tour in Austin, hanging out with the Texas staff that currently & fearfully hold his commitment, there is considerable information, tips, and conversations pouring LSUOdyssey's way (from four different contacts) regarding the reality of the versatile Manvel DB flipping from Texas to LSU.

Not withstanding some sort of NIL coup by Texas, which could definitely occur considering their pure desperation for strong secondary talents, or the allure of Marcus Freeman at Notre Dame (still in the conversation but on the outside), Greedy James appears ready to flip his commitment like a griddle full of pancakes.

Why?
Why the hell not???

Most of all, the plan from LSU's Corey Raymond and Jake Olsen:

I mentioned his versatility, but the truth is even more tantalizing.

Greedy James is such an athletic festival, he is actually being recruited as a cornerback by LSU, with Raymond believing and sensing this young man is another future shutdown corner...the next in a line of greats Raymond has coached and is currently coaching at LSU...an example of ultimate, majestic ambition for the young prospect to follow.

The vibes are there, even though James just barely received an official offer from LSU back in April, the versatile, playmaking powerhouse has definitely had his head turned by the Tigers. Remember, Texas has never had anywhere near the same history of sending defensive backs into the NFL in comparison to our LSU Tigers...there's just absolutely zero comparison...at all:

Before Jahdae Barron was selected in the 1st round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Texas couldn't produce a single 1st round DB for over 12 years, dating back to Kenny Vaccaro in 2013....oddly, that time frame correlates with Corey Raymond's DBU rise (5 first round picks under Corey Raymond from 2013-2025). Since Raymond's hire at LSU in 2012, Texas couldn't compete on the recruiting trail against "The DBU Miyagi"...

The interest is obvious:

Last fall, James was a standout at Manvel, setting himself apart as one of the best defensive backs across the entire Texas landscape, producing 53 tackles, 6 PBUs, 2 INTs, and 1 fumble recovery returned for a 49 yard defensive touchdown over 12 games.

In totality over the past 2 years of high school ball, James recorded 84 tackles, 13 PBUs, 5 tackles for loss (all in 2024), 3 INTs, 2 fumble recoveries, and the aforementioned defensive score, displaying ultimate scheme versatility, which is one of the biggest reasons Greedy James is receiving such heightened attention.

The race for the flip & ultimately, the December signature from Greedy James, isn't just on, it's nearing a shocking climax.
