On Wednesday, LSU added yet another elite player via the portal, one LSUOdyssey forecasted on our most recent show here, proven backfield menace DE Princewill Umanmielen, formerly a top defender under Kiffin's coaching at Ole Miss.
Starting his journey off at Nebraska, where he played his first two seasons in 2023 & 2024, Umanmielen has been building up to this moment of complete alignment....
Playing in a College Football Playoff contending team, that went all the way to the semifinals, Princewill Umanmielen was a key part of a solid Ole Miss defense, racking up 9 sacks and 13 tackles for loss, 1 interception and 44 total tackles over 15 games.
Princewill is a game-wrecking specialist, a defender who should reach an unfathomable level of elevated front seven majesty under the coaching of Blake Baker while playing alongside such world class defenders like Whit Weeks, Ole Miss teammate TJ Dottery, Davhon Keys, Dominick McKinley, Gabe Reliford, and Jaylen Brown (among others).
If he produced near double digit sacks and tackles for loss at Ole Miss, with Pete Golding as his defensive coordinator, imagine what he can do playing alongside those aforementioned dawgs, backed by Corey Raymond and Jake Olsen's elite secondary, too, I think Blake Baker's setup should create every opportunity for Umanmielen to reach that next level of performance...perhaps embarking upon a quest to break Arden Key's all time program sack record.
Adding yet another fantastic defensive specimen, a new weapon of backfield-annihilation (Umanmielen's 9 sacks from last season is more than 3/4 of the entire sack total for LSU's 2025 D-line & a third of the entire defensive amount of 27), Lane Kiffin, Blake Baker, Kevin Peoples and Sterling Lucas all made a major statement by continuing to pull in top talents at positions of need, as well as stacking one option after another in every key area, leaving no stone unturned and completely shredding every other school in the country.
What Lane Kiffin continues to create over the month of January may just prove to be the greatest transfer portal class of all time, although that kind of hyperbole can be saved for after we witness what this group does on a football field this fall....but due to the pedigree and volume of elite players brought into the program over such a short timeframe, I'm interested in where the Tigers' class will rank after the portal window closes with a finalized squad....
One final thing: Kiffin and LSU are far from done shopping...
