MORE TIGERS TO COMMIT IN 2023'S JULY!

DASHAWN WOMACK (DL, St Frances Academy)

⭐⭐⭐⭐

JULY 4TH

The 13th-rated DE in America will commit to LSU on July 4th, making it three high powered pass-rushers heading LSU's way in 3 days.....with a potential for more to follow....

Out of Baltimore, Maryland's St Frances Academy, Dashawn Womack is currently pursued by Georgia, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Oregon, his home-state school Maryland, Auburn, Luke Fickell's Cincinnati, Kentucky, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma........you can name every school in America (outside of Saban's Alabama) and you'll make up 99% of Dashawn's offer list.

But one school stands above all: LSU.

I feel Womack will be making his switch to LSU based upon the fortified relationship he has with DL Coach Jamar Cain, making it three powerhouse DL in 3 days for the Tigers' 2023 class....solving a major DL need in the wake of Ojulari, Gaye and Jaquelin Roy's expected NFL exodus following the 2022 season.

Womack is also a versatile defensive lineman, capable of playing multiple techniques, attacking the backfield from the interior as well as on the outside.

DARRON REED (DE, Carver)

⭐⭐⭐⭐

JULY 4TH

One of LSU's recent June D-Line visitors, "near-5 star" DE Darron Reed is a player we've written / spoken about before on this site as an LSU target.

However, after seeing three different edge rushers head to LSU over three days, will Reed's 4th of July commitment belong to Ohio State or Florida State, the Tigers' two key competitors?

The strong side defensive end is a versatile freak along the line of scrimmage, a highly coveted pass-rushing specimen within the 2023 class....right now, I'm going to have to say I have varying degrees of confidence in either an LSU or elsewhere pick, regardless of the information I'm receiving or gathering....but I will make one nonetheless.

When that stalemate occurs, the destination usually lands somewhere outside of Baton Rouge, but in this case, I believe Darron may be digging Jamar Cain just enough to commit, regardless of competition inside the position room.

Would the arrival of others force him to head elsewhere?

I don't necessarily believe that will be the case here, however when LSU begin to stack 3 or 4 defensive ends together in this class, it will definitely become tougher to not only attract top targets like Darron Reed or Collins Acheampong.....but also to hang on after they've committed through signing day.

That mission is not impossible for Coach Cain, a man who's opened this summer like a steambreather on the recruiting trail, while enthusiasm & wonder trends LSU's way from the 2023 DL community at large.....could that magic earn most top targets??

It's going to be a difficult task, but LSU are starting in a machete-slicing frenzy that'll shake the living hell out of programs like Ohio State, Alabama or A&M.

LSU's 2023 defensive line class has all the makings of a supernatural group....and if they land Darron Reed, that feeling will become overwhelming.

JEREMIAH HUGHES (CB, Bishop Gorman)

⭐⭐⭐

JULY 7TH

Another Western target for DBU Coach Robert Steeples, Jeremiah Hughes will announce in early July, with some believing LSU could very well be his landing spot after he was "blown away" by the "family aspect" of his recent Tigers visit.

Holding just 2 SEC offers among his 18 total (one from his home state of Arkansas), the other impressive squads to field offers so far? Pitt, Utah and Washington....but I wonder, is Hughes underrated or correctly overlooked?

Hughes' ability to tackle on the outside is the biggest draw, showcasing smart angles, intelligence in space, an ability to close down on the target and eat up ground quickly.....he has it all on that side of things; But in coverage, Hughes is still raw and needs to take that next step over his senior year, appearing timid to anticipate or jump routes at times when deployed in off-man coverage.

Regardless of any questions, he is no doubt a major target for Robert Steeples, a man who knows talent.....I will defer to a man who made a jump from high school to the NFL any day over my knowledge.
