TREY'DEZ GREEN 2026 PROFILE

By LONN PHILLIPS SULLIVAN

Catching all 11 of his Tiger receiving touchdowns inside the red zone (4 as a freshman, 7 last year), junior Trey'Dez Green is a proven game changer, unguardable contested catch monster, and big play powerhouse, but still, LSU's 2024 and 2025 offenses went from bad to worse, never found a rhythm, a role, or even a way to maximize Green into his ultimate best.

Offensive Coordinator Joe Sloan was too busy struggling to find a running game or covering up his injured quarterback to really identify a gameplan that would generate the best out of Green, failing to find him in any meaningful passing situations outside of the red zone, ignoring his ability to break loose for yards after catch over the middle, or constantly refusing to expose his obvious mismatch potential.

In a Sloan offense that could not run the ball, you'd expect LSU's offensive cosches would then run their offense through their most athletic, most unguardable, and best player...one who can deliver in short yardage, downfield as well as inside the red zone.

Instead, LSU left a tonage of yards, big plays, and, most critically, points on the field, at least through Trey'Dez Green, only throwing tepid fade routes his way, or finally hitting him when LSU were unable to run the ball into the endzone from the 3 yard line....

Without question, Green is a generational talent, a lengthy, 6 foot 7 inch specimen who simply hasn't been maximized thus far, despite his strong production....through no fault of his own.

But in a Kiffin / Weis offensive setup, could we finally witness the pure unstoppable fever dream majesty of Trey'Dez all over the field???

Judging by Spring Camp, the answer is clearly YES.

Green towered above his best coverage teammates, even posterizing the lengthy, bullish Dashawn Spears among others, separating, making tough catches look easy and routine, using his massive size and agile body to box out defenders, while placed in advantageous areas all over the formation (Green was getting moved around in a ton of pre-snap motion sequences).

These new formations, sometimes using 12 personnel (aka dual tight ends) opposite of, or even alongside Malachi Thomas, or splitting Green out wide or in the slot, should pay massive dividends in the creativity department this fall, specifically when combined with QB Sam Leavitt's dual threat capabilities, plus the upgrades at running back, receiver, and most importantly at Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, there is no reason why Trey'Dez Green doesn't end 2026 as a Maxwell, Biletnikoff & potentially even a Heisman finalist.

I don't think 15+ TDs is out of the realms of possibility....we know Kiffin loves to feed his best players, we know Weis can dial up backbreaking playcalls to wear down, break through or straight up beat any defense, and we know Leavitt has the minerals to make the right decisions with the football....and Green is a perfect outlet for any quarterback on almost any play.

LSU simply didn't use him enough in that key role of possession man, grinding out the hard yards, moving the chains, and bailing out pressurized quarterbacks in a jam...either his routes led him elsewhere or the ball never left the quarterback's hand.

Green is just that damn good, it would be unfathomable to see him minimized for a 3rd straight season....we should see him snap records, break opponents, and evolve from raw athletic freakshow into complete juggernaut and even a leader for the 2026 LSU Tigers.
