WINSTON WATKINS
(WR Ole Miss, Sophomore)
2025 #'S
373 Receiving Yards
26 Catches
1 TD Catch
It was a move that drove a dagger right through the hearts of every Ole Miss fan, as if they couldn't hate and envy LSU with any more inflamed, limp dick rage:
From the first moment he heard the news of Kiffin's Ole Miss departure for Baton Rouge, the Rebels' key young WR Winston "Winnie" Watkins knew he was leaving Oxford to follow Lane...so, Watkins prepared himself for his Ole Miss exit even as he competed in 3 playoff games for the Rebels.
Despite playing for Ole Miss in a close, heartbreaking CFP Semfinal game defeat to Miami only 4 days before his LSU transfer was officially announced, and regardless of Kewan Lacy among other big names returning to the Ole Miss roster next season, Winston Watkins is the exact cherry Lane Kiffin's deep receiving room required on top of an already prismatic room full of every receiving profile...

The receiving group was still missing true star power, but when Watkins signed as a Tiger, Kiffin solved that issue and checked that box, too.
Carrying true potential to be a future WR1 entering Year 2, Watkins still has plenty of time to develop.
Keeping an eye on his development, Watkins' ascension may be highly likely, but is fully up to him to finish off.
When you look through his impact upon one of the top 4 teams in America, it was minimal (just 2 catches for 10 yards & 1 run for 1 yard over 3 entire playoff games)....expecting instant impact upon arrival in Baton Rouge may be a bit of a stretch....or, it's exactly what he's ready for...
Regardless, the signs of the player he's becoming are there for all to bear witness: Watkins threw down a superb 111 yard outing vs Oklahoma, tacked on another 80 yards (and season-high 5 catches) against Citadel, though in total, "Winnie" was on the fringes, pulling down 26 catches for only 373 yards and 1 lone TD catch.
In an explosive Lane Kiffin offense, Watkins could definitely break out in 2026, but reasonable opinions sense he remains a year away......Regardless, I'd like to find out....
...Watkins is a stunning specimen when in full flight, holding boundless, juggernaut yards after catch possibilities, frequently ripping opponents wide open over the middle of their defense.
, A true defense-splitting player, Winnie Watkins followed Lane Kiffin, Charlie Weis Jr and his position coach George McDonald to Baton Rouge for this very reason....perhaps Watkins has been chosen....perhaps Lane knows Watkins is that man...
