It was a subtly good first year for resident brainiac & highly versatile defensive lineman Ahmad Breaux, a Tiger whose academic talents for building his own computers or playing musical instruments is only outmatched by his footballing pedigree.
Arriving on campus as a true freshman defensive end, Breaux gained serious weight & changed positions to fill a roster hole for the team. Karma paid him back, as he ended up gaining loads of experience over the course of 2024.

Taking the field for 292 snaps across 13 appearances, the most of any freshman D-lineman, Breaux became an imperative piece to the interior D-line puzzle for 2024 position Coach Bo Davis, eating up key reps for a bone thin defensive tackle unit leaning on two freshmen & a pair of limited use transfers....one from Wisconsin and the other from Div. II.
Selflessly switching from defensive end to defensive tackle was already a laudable move, then, suddenly when starting anchor Jacobian Guillory went down for the season in just Week 2, Breaux's readiness was tested immediately.
While he didn't have a flawless or even flashy campaign, and the entire LSU defense was outmatched and outclassed by superior & deeper A&M as well as Alabama rushing attacks, Breaux consistently supplied brutal front seven playmaking for an injury ravaged defense missing key playmakers; Much of his work created plays for other teammates, establishing himself as a prospective future great in purple and gold.

Now, due to the arrival of his former Ruston High D-Line coach, LSU Legend Kyle Williams, the stout & steady-handed sophomore will receive an opportunity to take his game to the next level.
Regardless of LSU's added depth through the portal this offseason (Gooden, Mitchell), the rise of fellow 2024 DT Dominick McKinley, or the return of 2024 starter Jacobian Guillory from a torn Achilles, look to Ahmad Breaux's selfless physicality opening up gaps within opposition offensive line protections (for Perkins, Weeks, Payton, Pyburn and others to exploit in behind), jarring through blocks to make plays at the line of scrimmage, and fighting ball carriers to the ground with the kind of power LSU has lacked since the departure of Tyler Shelvin from an opt out ahead of the 2020 Covid season (while Jaquelin Roy and Neil Farrell Jr are a few higher producing DTs during that post-2019 defensive wilderness).

Ahmad is a throwback....the kind of Tiger LSU fans love to support, opponents hate to face, teammates look to, and coaches love to have on their squad....however, he is also an extremely cerebral player, dissecting, anticipating, at times reading the play....as he develops, his game should become littered with fireworks due to his innate sense of the ball.
As he fronts a highly talented 2025 Blake Baker defense replete with speed and playmaking at linebacker, edge rusher, and a rejuvenated secondary, Breaux's selfless sack or TFL assists will become more critical & more noticeable than ever before.
