Today, Louisiana's first ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ quarterback since Ryan Perriloux or Russell Shepard signed with the LSU Tigers, making December 15th a day of history for Louisiana State University.
Walker Howard is now officially an LSU Tiger, and the fan base have to absolutely love seeing the images of the STM senior & his father Jamie feeling a swell of emotions as Howard signed on the dotted line.
Today ends a recruitment that started way back before Joe Burrow even arrived at LSU, an offer given to Howard on June 20th 2019 and held through an undefeated national championship run, followed by Walker's June 12th, 2020 commitment.....then, one Title IX headline, high profile transfer or opt out after another could have sent Howard packing....there were offers from everywhere....but through it all, including LSU losing a Head Coach, an offensive coordinator, firing our passing game coordinator, wide receivers coach, running backs coach....while some big time players decommitted, Howard remained loyal to LSU.
Now it's time LSU remains loyal to Walker Howard:
Coach Kelly will have to set the stage for LSU's 2022 debutant as well as he can, fronted by a new breed of imposing OL (led by sophomore Garrett Dellinger, freshmen Will Campbell, Emery Jones, Bo Bordelon, & former STM teammate Josh Billideaux among others), aided on the outside by the #1 rated WR in America (Kayshon Boutte), best friend Jack Bech, and a star studded freshmen trio (Nabers, Thomas Jr, Hilton), all backed up by a strong corps of running backs (1,000 yard back Ty Davis-Price, if he doesn't go pro; Potentially John Emery Jr, as well as stunning incoming sophomores Corey Kiner & Armoni Goodwin.
There will be plenty of weapons for Howard to be successful, but before we get too carried away, let's just soak it all in...
Over 19 starts in 2 seasons, Howard tossed 3.9 TDs & 356 yards per game at St Thomas More, totaling 75 TDs, just 11 INTs and 6,765 yards....watch the tape....see what he can do in the flesh....Walker is a frightening talent...
At LSU, both Head Coach and QB are now on the same page for the first time since Joe Burrow left the Superdome ripping a cigar and carrying 7 top 10 blue blood scalps...
Knowing the young man like I do, I have a deep feeling that Howard must be able to start in 2022....no red shirt only season here.
I believe, for LSU to begin its new era in the best way possible, Walker should start his freshman season; 99.9% of the time, I wouldn't agree with a freshman starting....but Walker isn't your typical freshman quarterback....
I know he can handle it, I know he can evolve, I know he can geaux above and beyond....
I know I shouldn't say stuff like this, but I'm too excited to contain it:
LSU just signed their next championship-winner at QB today.
By the way, LSU's top 3 all time rated QB talents, Ryan Perriloux, Russel Shepard and Jamarcus Russell all won a National Championship at LSU or took the Tigers to a title game, with Russell becoming the #1 overall draft pick of 2007's NFL Draft.
