LSU has their man....

The #1 transfer portal target of the Spring window is now a Tiger:

Former Houston safety AJ Haulcy committed to the Tigers quickly upon his arrival in Baton Rouge, solidifying one of the question marks for the Tigers heading into Fall Camp.

Now, the safety room is secured with top rated portal signings Haulcy and Cooley, while young guns Javien Toviano, Dashawn Spears and Joel Rogers also add critical depth to a position that's haunted LSU over the past 4 seasons.

In the past under Brian Kelly, Haulcy would've been as good as gone the second he hit Miami for his red carpet visit; However, not only was their a preemptive strike by defensive coordinator Blake Baker, visiting Haulcy in Houston before the Miami visit, the improved NIL stature & financial heft of LSU's push for the safety made quite the impact.....to the point that a dinner with rapper Rick Ross, a police escort through Miami traffic, and promises of bags and bags of cash, did little to misdirect Haulcy.

In fact, it was during his Miami visit that our source on this story told us there was "nothing for LSU to worry about" and "they got this".....what followed were scenes of panicking Miami media pundits and a rash of stunning predictions.....for LSU to sign the prized safety.

From the number I'm told, Haulcy is indeed one of the more expensive transfer portal signings in LSU history, but it is money well spent.

Featuring a pair of disciplined, veteran safeties at the back, Blake Baker's defense could really improve by light years thanks to Haulcy's sterling, physically aggressive presence, freeing up the speed & powerhouse playmaking of Harold Perkins and Whit Weeks to do what they do best (attack or patrol the front / backfield), while the upgraded safety room holds it down at the back.

It's a finite statement of championship intent from Brian Kelly.....sealing up two strong pieces for dual positions of need (D-line and safety, Gooden and Haulcy) over the past week and a half.

LSUOdyssey will have more on this major signing that should propel Blake Baker's defense forward into the Fall with a lot of confidence.
