Just as we'd expected for some time, Lake Charles College Prep running back TreVonte Citizen has taken his talents to Louisiana State University, where he'll make his home away from home....and he won't be having to travel too far.
One of the most elite running backs from the 2022 class, Citizen holds some truly intriguing prospects as he heads into his senior year:
Since 2018, Citizen has only rushed for 1,121 yards from 135 carries for 14 touchdowns, but most of this limited output was due to his time on the defensive side of the ball, doubling at linebacker.
During 2020 alone, TreVonte racked up 66 tackles, 5 TFLs, 2 sacks and 2 PDs, showing himself to be an electric defender when putting his brilliant side to side pace to the test; he also has a frenetic ability to pick through the blocking traffic in order to visually isolate runners, then his body takes over and he pounces.
At the same time, while 1,121 yards from 135 carries and 14 TDs is a small amount in 3 seasons, you can also do the math, too.....he averaged a whopping 8.3 yards per carry, even as he pulled double duty at linebacker.
What LSU have here is a young man capable of playing either side of the ball, though I expect him to finish as a running back at LSU, he could seriously play either position....of course depending on what the Tigers need at any given time.
That's another correct prediction from our 2022 class predictions piece, although many many many had Citizen to LSU, so we're not really tooting our own horn, more just pointing to where we're at in our predictions at this point.
We told you a few weeks ago that there would be at least 1 commitment before Emery Jones' 7/30 announcement and here it is....
