ARIK GILBERT (Georgia) TE

I'm also asked about Arik Gilbert, all the time....in fact, I've been pursuing a story on Gilbert over the past little while which delves deep into his situation over the past year, from when he first left LSU, why he left the program and why he couldn't even begin the season for Georgia.

I know he has many friends still on the team, almost all of whom would welcome him back...but given the many twists and turns of the Gilbert saga, we'll have to see....especially concerning the facts of the matter here:

We're talking about a multi-layered situation, hinging on not only Gilbert's physical fitness or emotional state when under the spotlight, we're also talking about a variety of other off field issues.

Gilbert could return to LSU, I'll give the prospects a 6.5 out of 10, given the fact I only have a few shreds of evidence leading me toward that conclusion, and a whole lot of proof of where his current status resides....and it's nowhere near a football field, sadly.

Arik Gilbert had a turbulent 2020 and 2021, first instigating his transfer from LSU after a promising freshman season (8 games, 368 yards, 35 catches, 2 TDs), before the Marrietta High School legend committed to Florida....for all of a few weeks.

After his brief commitment to Florida, Gilbert took online classes at LSU in order to raise his academic status, and right before he was to sign for the Tigers, at the behest of his family, Arik spurned Orgeron's renewed advances in order to stay home and play for eventual National Champions Georgia.

Only he would never make it to the field...for even a single snap of the Bulldogs' National Championship season....

I will have more on this story later....keep updating and refreshing this page once in a while.
