After an error-prone 17-14 defeat a week ago, Oconee High's first in 11 months, the Warriors took on 6-2 Stephens County last Friday with a furious display in the rain, taking control for a big 16-7 victory.
While RB C.J Jones continues to showcase his brilliance for the assembled college scouts, Jake Johnson's big play efficiency catapulted Oconee to their 8th win of the season.
Back to winning ways with one last Friday night ahead of the postseason, Juker Jake Johnson grabbed 4 passes for 72 yards, each catch generating first down yardage, 1 catch for 13, another for 29 yards where he towered high above before showcasing his afterburner pace over the middle, plus two further grabs of 18 and 12.
Though he should be receiving far more targets his way, Johnson proved to be the catalyst for each scoring drive, taking Oconee into enemy territory on 3 of his catches.
Though his touchdown streak was snapped at 7 over 4 games, Juker helped supply the renewal of an even more important streak, getting back to winning ways after last week's defeat to Monroe Area.
With a showdown vs Carnesville, the 2022 All-American looks to take the Warriors toward their state title game destiny for a third consecutive year, but taking it one game at a time:
Against Carnesville on November 5th, a special special day for this author, I think Jake Johnson is going to be racking up the yards and leading Oconee to a 9-1 regular season, capping the season off in fine fashion.
You'll want to have your popcorn ready.

Jucker can do it all. He simply needs targets.
