Tonight on Monday Night Football, the two greatest quarterbacks in LSU history, let alone arguably the two most statistically dominant signal callers in college football history, the two leaders & architects of college football's greatest offenses, a #1 overall pick, Heisman winning National Champion & a #2 overall pick, Heisman-winner....both Tigers, will square off for the first time at the NFL level:
Joe & Jayden....Jayden vs Joe....Joe vs Jayden....Daniels vs Burrow....Burrow vs Daniels....names synonymous with the ultimate in football achievement, two LSU Tigers who lit up the college football record books & made them their own, chasing each other on a conquest for greatness.
For Joe Burrow, the former #1 overall pick who surpassed any other Cincinnati Bengals' quarterback with his explosive 2021 & 2022 playoff runs, making consecutive AFC Championship games, winning the 2021/22 AFC title game over Kansas City before narrowly losing to the LA Rams in Super Bowl LVI, playing alongside fellow top 5 Tiger, immediate Pro Bowl WR Ja'Marr Chase.
Last season was rough for Joe & the Bengals, failing to make the playoffs after Burrow's second season-ending injury during his short career of just 4 seasons....2 seasons missing the postseason & most of the year through injury and 2 other campaigns filled with savage progress for both his game & the lowly franchise who drafted him to rescue their floundering fortunes.
Now, already a few games into his 5th as a pro, Cincinnati are looking desperate already....stuck at 0-2 while lumped inside one of the toughest divisions in football, the former LSU National Champion returns to face the time who caused his first season ending injury back in fall 2020 of his rookie year.....
It's a big game for Cincinnati, one of the fastest rising franchises in the entire NFL back in early 2023 has gone into free fall since then....hoping to avoid yet another major crash. To do that, Joe will need to showcase his A game....not just outdo Jayden Daniels, aka Joe's "apprentice", the young man who could've come close to equaling his 2019 numbers....if only LSU had a defense in 2023.
On Monday Night, it'll be a big moment for Washington Commanders' QB Jayden Daniels, his first primetime game on a big stage at the NFL level, of course, only just 2 games into his rookie season....and he'll be facing the man who's shoes he was told he could never fill, the unreplaceable quarterback....Joey B.
This is as Daniels also represents an organization that is in dire need of a quarterback for the future...a steadying, reliable presence....an athletic phenom on the ground who's still blessed with a golden arm....
....for Washington, a franchise that was the league's biggest embarrassment over the past 25 years (until Dan Snyder finally relinquished ownership), Daniels is without question the ultimate Draft pick.
Already picking up the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Week award for his Week 1 exploits vs Tampa Bay, JD5 always seems to hit the ground running....
Tonight, we'll see if Burrow and the Bengals have the stomach for 2024 AFC contention, while watching Daniels' Monday Night Football debut and first showdown vs Burrow, as Washington search for their 2nd win of the season, sitting at 1-1.
Buckle up for what will be a historic night for all LSU Tigers, as Burrow & Daniels both elevate the Tigers QBU brand on the biggest national footballing stage outside of the Super Bowl & National Championship Game.
