MAX JOHNSON ON COACH O GIVING HIM THE NOD:

"Uhm...Coach O kinda told me...in a really strong way, that I was gonna take the first snaps in spring and uhm...ya know, we're really working well together, the quarterbacks are a great unit. We're coming together and practicing really well. Coach O's done a great job and Coach Peetz has done a really great job of controlling that."

MAX JOHNSON ON 2020 AND TURNING THE PAGE

"Yeah you know, last year was pretty tough for our team. We were 5-5 and we all really didn't expect that, it was hard for us. But ya know we're bouncing back, we're gonna bounce back this year. We've been working really hard, January, February, March, we're all really working really hard together...we threw multiple days with the receivers, the line's coming out, we're getting snaps, working with the running backs...we're all just determined to have a better year this year and we're looking forward to that."

ON GARRETT NUSSMEIER & OTHER QBs

(asked by Glen Guilbeau):

"Yeah Garrett came in, he's early enrolled...he came in....a lotta hype...but he's lived up to it, he's a baller. He makes plays, runs around, ya know he can make throws outta the pocket, in the pocket...he's doing...he's been pretty good with protections. Coach Peetz has done a great job at coaching us all up on protections, knowing where to get the ball out, when to get it out, and uhm...how the defense is playing. The quarterbacks are all workig really well together, I think we've gotten a lot closer this year just competin' beside one another..."
