LSUODYSSEY talked with former Indiana DL Philip Blidi about his current transfer portal visit to LSU the past few days and what his experience was like.

Blidi, the highly experienced on field defensive lineman is also a father of a one year old son & two year old daughter, married to his wife Emma who is originally from the South, and is looking for his next home to be the school that takes his career to the next level in his final year of eligibility.

Blidi played at Texas Tech for his first few seasons before playing at Indiana last fall, ranking as their 3rd overall defender on Pro Football Focus (30 tackles, 4 TFLs, 1 PBU, and 15 pressures throughout 2023 alone, a sizeable improvement over his prior 3 seasons).

Joined by his family, Blidi spent the past few days finding out if LSU was the place for him and his young family.

LSUODYSSEY: Yo Philip, how is your LSU visit goin??

PHILIP BLIDI: What’s up Lonn! Man this place is unreal. I really enjoyed my experience this weekend. What they are doing to continue to keep LSU on the map is unreal.

LSUODYSSEY: Was this the best visit so far on the schedule? What did your wife, Emma, think about Baton Rouge and LSU?

PHILIP BLIDI: I thought there were things about each city that I liked more than the other. There is so much tradition in Baton Rouge and LSU football’s traditions are really cool! My wife, Emma, really enjoyed being back in the South. She’s a true southern woman so it felt very homie to her. It’s hard to say if it was my BEST visit, because what I liked about Washington and LSU differs a lot. But I did love LSU and see the opportunity they have for me there.

LSUODYSSEY: Which coaches did you hang out with the most/ showed you and Emma around campus?

PHILIP BLIDI: I was with Coach Kelly, Coach Bo Davis and Kendall!! Got to meet a lot of the staff, Coach Kelly is so down to earth and just a great man.

Man as soon as I got there, it screamed history! There is something to say when you get into a building and you just feel like you are around greatness. The Coaches didn’t need to say a word, the LSU dynasty speaks for itself. It’s legacy rich. You get in the building and you look to your right and there is a national championship trophy. You walk around and you see people who paved the way in the program.

Something me and my wife both noticed is how friendly and intentional every single person is. When you go into the dining hall, every person in there greeted us immediately and were so kind.

The new wellness center that is being built is football heaven. For an older player like me, keeping my body healthy so I continue to stay injury free and can also play this sport as long as possible, that’s a huge resource.

The support for the team is so obvious. The community is invested. The passion for football is on a completely different level.

The coaches are so genuine and down to earth. I think me and Coach Bo would be great fit together as well. We really meshed well and have the same mindset.
