Elite 2023 Many High LB Tackett Curtis just released a final list of his last three schools....and sadly, but not surprisingly, LSU aren't among the few.
USC, Ohio State and a strong outsider challenge from Wisconsin remain the last three schools battling for the Louisiana-born defender's services, showing off stunning versatility over the past three varsity seasons:
Taking his Uncle Jess Curtis' Many High program to the semifinals in three straight seasons, including back to back trips to the state title game & a title victory in 2020, all while playing almost every conceivable position on the field, from safety & his main home of linebacker to reps at quarterback or running back while catching passes & sometimes covering receivers.
Rated as a high 4 star by the 247 composite score, it won't be long before Curtis is given his 5th star, perhaps at the start of his senior year.....but one thing was for sure, he wasn't waiting to commit in the middle of a season....he wanted this figured out right now.
Ahead of the final three release, Tackett called LSU LBs Coach & Defensive Coordinator Matt House and informed him of his decision, not wanting to "string LSU along".
I respect that move, and from us at LSU Odyssey (aka only me) I hope Tackett picks the best one for his NFL development.
With that, Tackett Curtis is now officially off the table for LSU's 2023 Class....a sad state of affairs but one we could see coming, given how quickly Tackett wanted to commit ("early July" for his commitment date I am told by Uncle Jess Curtis).
It will be difficult for the Tigers to acquire dedicated LB talents in this class, though names such as Jaiden Ausberry and Justin Jefferson spring to mind as potential Tigers.

It’s hard to understand why any Louisiana kid wouldn’t want to play at LSU if given the opportunity. Good Luck to him! Geaux 🐯
There are plenty of Louisiana kids who dream of wear P&G. Curtis isn’t one of them. He’s tiger bait now.
I would have been upset at LSU’s current staff if they didn’t step up, but they did. At some point Curtis and his contingent decided their ship had sailed. Therefore, good luck, but I refuse to feel bad about this one.
That’s a bad miss and unfortunate. What’s the reason for a weak LSU showing?
