BREAKING FROM LSUOdyssey.com: starting LB Whit Weeks suffered a broken right leg during the Texas A&M game, and will be going through surgery tomorrow, his father David told LSUOdyssey.

Whit was making a tackle early in the 3rd quarter when teammate Jordan Ross dove and collided with Whit's right side, forcing him to buckle and fall to the ground in a hideous, unnatural fashion that indicated the worst.

LSU is flying Whit out to Birmingham, Alabama for the surgery on the team's private jet, while his parents David and Erin are flying back to native Georgia, before immediately taking a car to Birmingham to be with their 2nd eldest boy....none of the family sleeping much through the night.

There is an outside possibility Whit might be back for a postseason run, depending on the outcome of his surgery, but in all likelihood his year is over.

This would be the 3rd straight season that ends with an injury for Weeks, a harshly unlucky streak that started during the Texas Bowl vs Baylor, where he suffered a dislocated right ankle and broken right leg combination, while last season was marred after only half of a year of action due to the same ankle, and now, as sad and sickened fans witnessed last night, Whit walking to the locker room on crutches, wearing yet another boot on his right leg, and now suffering another right leg injury.

Before these 3 consecutive freak injuries, Whit never even sustained any injury of any kind playing football at Oconee High or his first 2 seasons as a Tiger.

In my near decade of covering LSU, I haven't experienced this many people, fans, former Tigers, scouts, and coaches all messaging about the same player's health....which really showcases how much LSU Nation and the larger football world love Whit and his family.

Let's all remember the mental side of the game and embrace Whit during this very disappointing time for the young man.
