The father of kunior LSU RB Kaleb Jackson informed LSUOdyssey that his son will no longer play this season for the Tigers. Jackson suited up in 4 games this season & is therefore eligible to red shirt the 2025 campaign.
The near future expectation is for Jackson to enter the transfer portal when it opens.
Jackson was a 5 star prospect out of local Liberty Magnet, rushing for over 2,000 yards during his fabled junior year, averaging 184 yards per game, eclipsing 100 yards in 11 games that campaign, while also adding 21 catches, 394 receiving yards & 4 receiving touchdowns, before tearing his ACL only plays into his 2022 senior year.
Jackson rebounded as a true freshman standout at LSU, making Sportscenter's Top 10 highlights when he ran over a Miss St defender.
Jackson was an under utilized but impactful player on the 2023 LSU juggernaut offense, rushing for 165 yards from 31 carries, 4 rushing scores, also adding 6 catches from 7 targets for 53 yards.
2024 was a different order entirely, with Jackson undergoing a drastic team-ordered weight gain that slowed down his bursts of pace. That fact, coupled with the LSU rushing game becoming an anonymous function of the 2024 Tigers offense, made his sophomore year a lost season entirely...playing just 49 snaps, rushing for 150 yards, 0 TDs while receiving 6 catches for just over 50 yards.
