Right as LSU's running back room needed healthy Tigers in the backfield, freshman Kaleb Jackson (alongside transfer signing Logan Diggs) both arrive as the Tigers enter the meat of their summer preparations.

A room anchored by Noah Cain's 10 touchdowns in 2022, as well as his omnipresent effect on LSU's backfield this off-season, next to LHSAA record-breaking debutant Trey Holly, while injuries to high impact carriers Josh Williams and Armoni Goodwin continue to heal up, as 3rd time LSU transfer RB Tre Bradford returns to potentially solve the issue of John Emery's unclear status....then you add Kaleb on top of that impressive list.....

After going through the names within the room (as they stand right now, with 1 or 2 possible departures in Goodwin & Emery), Frank Wilson's 2023 running backs unit looks (to me) like a room potentially full of stars....featuring four different backs who scored 5 or more touchdowns in 2022.....

Regardless of the experienced names ahead of him on the list, freshman Kaleb Jackson could be a multi-faceted weapon for this 2023 offense.....taking limited but effective snaps as a freshman lightning rod with the frame to break the will of most opponents:

Possessing a long, steely stride, powerful, violent bursts of raging intent, deceiving yet devastating pace, all backed by a body profile that offers Mr. Jackson the potential to be transcendental (running a 10.89 second 100 meter at 225 pounds), and boosted by a proven versatility catching the ball out of the backfield (or even out wide), Kaleb has all the tools to be a great one at LSU.

Jackson racked up video game numbers as a junior at Liberty Magnet, notching 2,031 yards as he punched in 29 TDs during his stark-raving mad junior year in fall 2021, torching the school's record books.

Pointing to his advanced athleticism & possible early inclusion in LSU's offense, Jackson owns elite receiving prowess.

The 2023 LSU rusher pulled down 31 passes for 394 yards, resulting in 4 receiving scores during his special junior adventure, even excelling when motioned out wide or in the slot (looking like a traditional wide out when snagging a touchdown in that scenario).

As a senior, a season ending injury ruined his final year of high school....fracturing his ankle just 7 carries and 45 yards into the first Friday of the fall.

With an original recovery timetable of a mere 6-8 weeks, Kaleb isn't just back on track for summer workouts, he's ready to make a noticeable impact among Frank Wilson's thickened running back room.

Regardless of the injury, I believe Jackson could still create a dent in every opposition helmet or face mask he's given the opportunity to run headlong into.

There are no worries regarding his game readiness, standing over 6 feet and a shade under 230 pounds, Kaleb is a brickhouse powerhouse for any defender of any age to take down.

Because of his towering, barrelhouse physical attributes, as well as his incendiary multi-dimensional abilities, expect RBs Coach Frank Wilson, Head Coach Brian Kelly, and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock to give Kaleb Jackson multiple chances to earn playing time in 2023.
